We publish detailed technical guidance — crop guides, EC and pH programmes, irrigation triggers, blend ratios and troubleshooting notes. This page explains what that material is, and what it is not.

1. General information, not tailored advice

Everything we publish is written for a general professional audience. We do not know your greenhouse, your climate, your irrigation hardware, your water analysis, your fertiliser programme, your variety, or your target market. All of those materially change what the right answer is.

No article, guide or downloadable document on this site creates an advisory relationship between us and you.

2. Figures are starting points

Where we publish numeric values — EC targets, pH windows, drain percentages, air-filled porosity, water content, irrigation timing, blend ratios — these are typical ranges used in commercial production under conditions comparable to those described.

They are a starting point for your own trials, not a prescription. Substrate behaviour changes with climate, radiation, crop stage, plant density, water quality and system design. What works in one glasshouse can be wrong in another.

3. Test before you commit a crop

Before applying any guidance from this site across a commercial planting, we strongly recommend a trial section, and monitoring of your own root-zone measurements. Substrate is a season-long decision; the cost of validating first is small compared with the cost of getting it wrong at scale.

4. What we cannot advise on

We are substrate manufacturers. We do not provide, and our content should not be read as:

• Plant pathology or disease diagnosis
• Fertiliser, nutrient or pesticide recommendations
• Crop protection or chemical application advice
• Financial, business or investment advice
• Legal or regulatory compliance advice for your country

Where a problem may be pathological, nutritional or chemical in origin, consult a qualified agronomist, plant pathologist or crop advisor.

5. Regulation differs by country

Requirements for substrate import, phytosanitary certification, permitted treatments, organic certification and residue limits vary by destination and change over time. Nothing on this site should be treated as a statement of the rules applying in your country.

Check current requirements with the relevant authority or certification body for your destination. We are happy to supply the documentation your import process requires — tell us where you are importing to and we will confirm what we can provide.

6. Third-party sources

Where we reference published research, industry standards or external sources, we do so in good faith and attribute them. We are not responsible for the accuracy of third-party material, and referencing a source does not imply it endorses us.

7. Accuracy and updates

We take care to keep this material accurate and current, and we correct errors when we find them. We do not warrant that everything is complete, current or free from error. Guidance published today may be superseded.

8. Product performance

Coco coir is a natural agricultural product. We manufacture to specification and publish our tolerances honestly, but we cannot guarantee crop outcomes. Yield, quality and plant health depend overwhelmingly on factors outside the substrate — climate control, irrigation strategy, nutrition, variety and crop management.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Rise Substrates accepts no liability for loss of crop, loss of yield, loss of profit, or any other direct, indirect or consequential loss arising from reliance on information published on this website or in our downloadable guides.

This does not limit liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and does not affect the terms governing any actual supply of goods, which are set out in the relevant contract.
