Grow Slabs Technical Specifications

Physical parameters, chemical ranges, water retention metrics, and sizing options for commercial greenhouse coir grow slabs.

Rise Substrates Grow Slabs are engineered with strict QC processes to guarantee chemical uniformity, proper drainage profiles, and structural integrity. Our slabs are structured using a specific blend of washed coir pith (for water retention) and coir husk chips (for structural porosity and drainage).

Physical & Chemical Properties

These values represent our target tolerances across standard batches. Circumspect parameters ensure optimal root expansion without salt shock or waterlogging:

Parameter Target Range / Value Testing Method / Details
pH (1:5 dilution) 5.8 – 6.8 Deionized Water Extraction
EC (Washed) < 0.5 mS/cm 1:1.5 Volumetric Method
Water Holding Capacity 60% – 68% Fully saturated drainage profile
Air-Filled Porosity (AFP) 22% – 28% Varies depending on chip ratio
Moisture Content < 15% At time of compressed packaging

Circumstances Where This Helps

Our grow slabs are specifically optimized for hydroponic greenhouse systems where run-to-waste irrigation is automated. Maintaining a stable AFP ensures that even during peak summer irrigation schedules, roots receive sufficient oxygen, eliminating root rot risks in sensitive vine crops (tomatoes, cucumbers) and soft fruits (strawberries).
